Peru nominated for the World Travel Awards 2014
Our country has been nominated as: Best Culinary Destiny, Best destiny in South America, Best Green Destiny and Best Tourism Office, at the regional prizing of the World Travel Awards 2014. The WTA are considered as the "Oscars of Tourism" according to the prestigious United States Newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, with a twenty years old trajectory in recognizing and celebrating the excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry and of travel around the world. Peru Travel Mart 2014
The PTM is an event that takes place every year in Peru since 1987. Its aim is to summon the main wholesalers of tourism in the world, in order to meet the most important operators of tourism services of the country. The XXI Peru Travel Mart took place in Lima, between the 24th and 27th April, and had the participation of 124 tourism wholesalers from 28 countries. This year there were seven countries that came for the first time: Aruba, China, Curacao, El Salvador, New Zealand, Portugal and South Africa.

 

“Picanteria Arequipeña” (Highly seasoned dishes from Arequipa) Cultural Heritage
The Ministry of Culture declared the “Picanteria Arequipeña” as cultural heritage of the Nation, as it consists of a social meeting place for people of all levels. Their main characteristic is the preparation and selling of food and typical beverages, with styles inherited from the pre-Hispanic times that consolidated during the times of the Colonies and the Republic.

 

Bird watching
This type of adventure tourism represents 15% of the total activity of tourism in general in the country. Peru has near 1835 bird species, from which 131 birds are endemic. Some of them are the: White win guam  (Lambayeque), Scarlet Macaw (Madre de Dios), Roseate spoonbill (Ucayali), Ruddy duck (Junin), Humboldt penguin (Ica), Common “Parihuana” (Arequipa), Cock of the Rocks (Cuzco), among others.

 
 

MATE Museum
Mario Testino, a Peruvian photographer with residence in London, presents at the MATE Museum-Barranco, Lima, his Permanent Collection, divided in different thematic rooms, which will be periodically renewed, but keeping the themes of each room. The selection of photographs include areas dedicated to models, Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen, the legendary singer Madonna, and other relevant figures, as well as unpublished photographs of the series of High Fashion and a room dedicated to the iconic photographs of Princess Diana of  Wales.

Miraflores Park reopened its doors
The Belmond chain (before Orient-Express) open the doors of the emblematic Belmond Miraflores Park  on the 16th April, after four and a half months of remodeling works. This exclusive hotel has now a more actual and fresh appearance, remodeled rooms, a modern executive room, new decoration, conference rooms with the latest technology, a more friendly bar and a restaurant acknowledged for its high cuisine: The Tragaluz.

Avianca   will operate daily flights to Iquitos
As from the 18th June, the airline with start daily flights to the city of Iquitos, with an Airbus A320 with a capacity of 138 passengers in tourist class, and 12 in executive class, being the only airline in the Peruvian market offering flights to that destination in Executive class. Its itinerary will be: Lima/Iquitos Departing 17.00 Arriving 18.55 and Iquitos/Lima Departing 19.30 Arriving 21.00, on daily flights.

 

LAN increases its weekly flights between Lima and Foz de Iguazu
The airline announced that it has presented to its passengers a daily flight from Lima to Foz de Iguazu (Brasil), increasing from four to seven its weekly operations. The new LAN flight will depart Lima every day at 12.10 arriving at Foz de Iguazu at 18.10. The return flight will leave Foz de Iguazu at 19.55 arriving at the Jorge Chavez International Airport at 22.10.

Uyuni  on luxury campers
Solmartour adds up another product to its offers in Bolivia. This is about enjoying total freedom, hard to find at these times, by spending the night at a Deluxe Airstream Camper. There are two campers, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds, as well as electric blankets, heating system, I-pod point and a well-equipped mini-bar. Each camper is towed by a 4x4. Just the same, you can now enjoy a unique experience during the months of November to March, when the Uyuni Salar turns into a big lake of limited depth offering a singular visual sight with the stars under the feet.

Amaszonas increases its flights between Arequipa and Cuzco
The airline is now reaching Arequipa with its new fleet of Bombardier jets. At present they are operating direct flights Arequipa/La Paz/Arequipa on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but as from the 6th July they will also have a direct flight on Sundays.  With the exception of Saturdays, Cuzco also has direct daily flights to La Paz, but as from the 5th July a flight on Saturdays will be added.

Route of the Coffee, touristic objective of the Andean North occident
The Ecuadorian frontier with Colombia has a Route of the Coffee, that powers the regional tourism through travels for the visitors along the productive chains of the North Occidental Carchi, at the Andean North. The coffee produced is high quality, gourmet type, with international qualifications of 85 points, and organically cultivated by associations of local farmers. Alfonso Bravo, coffee producer says: No chemicals are used, everything such as fungicides, herbicides, fertilizers are prepared by myself here at home, with organic debris.

 
 

Ecuador opens more spaces for extreme adventurers
The Ministry of Tourism adapted the parish of Cuyuja, at the province of Napo, the “Peña del Pivico” a wall of natural stone and one of the most recent destinies dedicated to the escalade activities. This wall for escalading has an approximate altitude of 75 meters, which makes a perfect destiny for the lovers of this adventure activity. The Park of Pivico also offers parking services, areas assigned for camping, sanitary conveniences, bicycle parking, resting places and foot paths.
