Discoveries of the Caral Culture
After a long and patient work the team of archaeologists of the Archaeological Zone of Caral (Lima), and under the direction of Doctor Ruth Shady, made a marvelous artistic founding in one of the five pyramidal buildings that form the archaeological site of Vichama, with an estimated antiquity of 3, 800 years. These consist of beautiful mural embossments in the top of the building "Las Cornisas", the same place where the Ceremonial Hall of the Toad was found. The mural embossments with human forms and fishes from Vichama, are clay figures placed in two stools and represent a complex scene formed by approximately 36 individuals, from which at present, 24 are exhibited, due to the difficult and delicate work of the excavation. |

From the 14th to the 31st October : "El Señor de los Milagros"
This procession goes back to the Colony Period, when a black slave from Angola painted the image of a native Christ in one of the walls of a humble manor house in a small farm in Pachacamilla. During the 1746 earthquake, all the neighbor buildings except the wall of the native Christ went down. Today it is the most venerated image in Lima and one of the biggest processions in America. Thousands of followers dressed in purple garments sing and pray accompanying the image. |
