Lima is the biggest surprise of the year 2011 between the tourist destinations according to USA Today. This web site, in its “Chris around the World” travel section, states that Lima hides its historical and architectural beauty in conventional guides that says that Lima is dirty, insecure and chaotic. Journalist Chris Gray named the wooden Moorish-influenced balconies, the San Francisco Monastery, the Cathedral, the cebiche and the pisco sour as the main tourist attractions of the city. |

Machupicchu was elected the ultimate destination to see before you die. The contest was organized by the Huffington Post through its readers’ opinions. They have chosen between 16 final destinations.
At the Huaca Rajada Sipan archeological complex in Lambayeque, north of Peru, in the tomb number 16, 80 ornaments and archeological pieces were discovered. During the first quarter of 2012, once the restoration and conservation works have ended, they will be exhibited to the public.

Spirit Airlines has renewed its operations license in the route Fort Lauderdale – Lima and viceversa, with up to 20 flights per week, and has obtained authorization to operate the route Fort Lauderdale – Chiclayo and viceversa, with up to 10 flights per week.
The airline United Airlines has obtained authorization to operate international air transport. The route is Houston – Lima and viceversa and the frequencies are seven per week in each air portion. |

The new San Agustin Paracas hotel will be inaugurated in June 2012. The hotel will have 123 rooms with view to the sea and is 100% ecological for it works with solar energy. The chain will also plan to start the construction of its new 80 room hotel in Cusco in 2012 and its 50 room hotel in the Colca Valley for 2013.
The new Hilton Lima hotel will be inaugurated between May and June 2012.
The JW Marriott hotel chain foresees to inaugurate in 2013 a new hotel of the Courtyard brand in San Isidro, in the city of Lima.
The Mexican hotel chain Grupo Posadas foresees to inaugurate 35 corporate hotels in South America, within the next five years. The chain will open two hotels in Peru.
The Whyndam Hotel Group chain will open a 5 star deluxe hotel in Cusco. It will have 180 rooms and will be located in Ucllo, 15 minutes from the city center. It is foreseen to be ready by the first quarter of 2012. |

The Marinera is one of the most elegant dances in Peru. The dance involves a great deal of flirting between a couple, who each swirl a handkerchief in their right hand, while keeping the beat during what is fairly complex. This competition, which draws couples from all over the country, is organized by the Club Libertad. This year the competition will be worldwide, the Club Libertad branches in Argentina, Chile, United States, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden and Belgium will participate. During the festival, the city also hosts parades involving floats, and the whole town takes on a festive air. The people of Trujillo gather at the main square to dance and celebrate.

The airline Boliviana de Aviación (BoA) has preliminary flights to Peru. Starting January it will have a fixed timetable between La Paz and Lima. It will also have flights to Caracas, Venezuela during the first six months of the year.
The Bolivian airline Aerosur will have a direct flight to Arequipa, Peru from the city of La Paz starting February 2012. |

The new regulations regarding the cruiser routes and the frequencies to and around the Galapagos islands, which will be applied from February 01st, 2012, are addressed to ship owners and operators. The tour companies that operate cruisers have to create itineraries of no less than 15 days / 14 nights, during which the ship can not visit the same spot twice, the goal being to reduce the cruiser fuel consumption.
