The Route of the Sun, created to promote destinations such as Lunahuana, Chincha and Paracas, is a tourist circuit that emphasizes different adventure sports in those regions. In Lunahuana, the tourists can do rafting and canopy over the Cañete River, in Chincha, the tourists can have a flight in air balloon and finally, in Paracas, the tourists can have a ride in tubular cars or make sandboard in the dunes. The tourist packages last two or three days. Besides, horse rides, catamaran at the Paracas Bay and gastronomy are offered.

Birding Rally Challenge. For the second consecutive year, the Birding Rally Challenge will be held in Peru. The most known bird watchers coming from the United States, England, Spain, South Africa and Brazil, will travel part of the north-Amazonian tourist circuit looking for the most fascinating birds that live in this part of our country. The competition will last 8 days, from June 11th to 18th, and the participants will travel through the regions of Lambayeque, Cajamarca, San Martín and Amazonas.

The Amazonas River will have a tourist cruise between Iquitos and Manaos (Brazil) that will last seven nights in 2015. The vessel will have a 220 people capacity in its 110 rooms. In addition, it will have glass elevators, Jacuzzi, suites of more than 55 square meters, among other luxury features. The construction of the vessel will start in three months and will be ready in 18 months, so it will start operating at the beginning of 2015.

The airline Etihad Airways from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is evaluating the possibility of flying to Peru in the first semester of 2014.

Jet Blue, the low cost airline from the United States, will start flying to Peru in November 21st of this year, in the route Fort Lauderdale-Lima-Fort Lauderdale (Florida).

The Palacio del Inka, the first and only 5 star hotel in Cusco for a long time, is about to become part of The Luxury Collection of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, a collection of luxury hotels from the American hotel chain. The hotel will offer 203 completely renewed rooms, distributed in three buildings and connected between each other. The hotel chain Accor continues with its expansion plan in Peru and is thinking in cities such as Arequipa, Chiclayo, Piura and Trujillo. In Lima, besides the inauguration of the Novotel Lima Airport hotel by the end of 2016, two more hotels by Ibis will be built, the Ibis Reducto in Miraflores and another Ibis in Lince. Likewise, it is possible to open a second hotel in Cusco.

1st week of June: Quoyllur Rit’i - Cusco
The largest pilgrimage of all indigenous nations of the Americas. More than 10 thousand people arrive in Sinakara, at the foot of the Ausangate mountain (6362 masl / 20873 fasl), to pay homage to a painting of Child Jesus. The ascent of a group of strong Queros to the snow-capped summit to seek the Star of the Snow (Qoyllur Rit’i) in the mountain’s heart is full of symbolism. They will take large blocks of ice on their shoulders back to their Quechua communities to water their lands with sacred water.

June 24th: Inti Raymi – Cusco
The winter solstice and the local harvests are the driving force behind the Inti Raymi, the homage to the sun. The central event is acted out at the fortress of Sacsayhuaman and the ceremony calls for the sacrifice of two llamas to predict the future. The Inca who commands the local authorities to govern fairly, presides the ceremony. Finally, at sunset, the Inca orders all to withdraw from the site, and the entire city breaks out into festivities.

June 21st: Andean Amazonian New year
It is the celebration of the beginning of a new year in Tiwanaku during the southern hemispheres winter’s solstice. The spiritual ceremony is at sunrise of June 21st, when the first rays of sunlight come through the legendary Sun Gate in Tiwanaku.

Numerous faithful accompany the worshipped image of the Sacred One that is taken out for a procession. This festivity is a good reason to learn more about the music, dances and the exquisite native food.

One of the biggest urban development projects of the last years is taking place in Quito. The Convención de Quito y Eventos Center Complex will be built in 11 hectares of the lands where the former airport was, at the north of the city. The complex will have a convention center, adjacent areas for fairs and events, an acting place for artistic and cultural events, complementary places and parking lots.

The Virtuoso net has placed Ecuador between the 20 best popular emerging destinations of the world for 2013, thanks to the offers of first category tourism among which we find the comfort of the luxury eco hotels within the natural reserves such as the Yasuni National Park, and the colonial “haciendas” which are an evasion from the big cities and a travel to the past. The train already runs the new tourist circuit named Route of the Ice. Its path Ambato-Cevallos-Urbina-Ambato is part of the Riobamba road. The Route of the Ice is 43 kilometers long and the train operates on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8h00. The tourists will enjoy the landscape from the Ecuadorian sierra (mountains), visit the train museum at Urbina and the Gusmar and Joseph Shoe Factory at Cevallos. For those who love adventure, they can take some time and go to the city of Riobamba by the railroads.

The Ecuadorian airline TAME already has the new Airbus A320 that will start operating in the next few days to reinforce the international and domestic flights. Likewise, TAME announces the inauguration of its new international route Quito-Buenos Aires-Quito for June 07th.

June 07th: Corpus Christi - Pujilí, Salasaca, Cuenca and Saraguro
The most important celebration of the Central Mountain and their shades vary according to the place it is made. For example in Salasaca it is celebrated with music and dances. The dancers get dressed in spectacular embroidered suits, plaster masks and hats adorned with shining tapes and feathers.

June 24th: San Juan – Otavalo and Tabacundo
With dances and parades the traditional celebration of San Juan is celebrated. In Otavalo, it is a male celebration that can last all week and end with the stone launching in the vestibule of the Church.
